The Fastest and Most Precise 3D Sensing
The fastest and most precise 3D sensing for autonomous systems in complex spaces. This novel solution provides the most accurate and precise 3D scanning at superior frame rates.
Applications include lightweight autonomous systems for millimeter-level change detection, small object detection, and maneuvering in complex spaces.
Benefits
Detect changes in mm-level
Changes on surfaces in various industrial, construction or public areas can reveal potential safety risks, quality issues, tampering, or illegal activities. PictM® detects these changes in mm-level.
Detect small objects
Mapping minuscule targets like cracks due to erosion or man-made changes in construction or mining.
Maneuver in complex spaces
PictM® allows us to observe the world around us in high detail at superior frame rates. Autonomous systems can operate in tunnels, dense forests and indoor spaces. Satellite positioning is not mandatory. In the case of autonomous systems, a continuous datalink is not needed either.
How we do it
Patented triangulation method for maximum precision
PictM® illuminates the target with a laser dot pattern and images it with infrared cameras, then calculates the 3D surface model of the target. The patented triangulation method provides optimal precision at close range (up to 20 m).
Frame rate up to 100 Hz for fast moving platforms
All the laser dots are imaged simultaneously with the global shutter image sensor, which essentially freezes the surroundings. The image processing is implemented in an embedded onboard computer, providing results 60 to 100 times per second, which is necessary to detect fast-moving targets in dynamic environments.
Captures details in mm-precision
The laser pattern contains a large number of very small dots that provide a signal from small objects. An even denser point cloud is generated with the moving platform, revealing mm-scale surface details or potentially fatal minuscule obstacles.
No moving parts, compact
PictM® is rugged, having no moving parts, because the scenery is illuminated with a 2D laser dot pattern. No moving scanners are needed. The low size and weight allow for longer operation times.
Laser illumination using hard-to-detect wavelengths
The device uses eye-safe near-infrared (NIR) laser at ~940 nm that is invisible to the human eye. In the future, short-wave-infrared (SWIR) solutions are also possible.
Scales to various platforms (UxVs)
PictM® sensing solution can be tailored to meet the needs of various ground robots or flying vehicles. The in-house designed baseline, optics, laser projector, and computing provide flexibility in integration and deployment. A carefully screened partner network enables ramp-up.
